Finissage of my Sublet
After a year and a half of moving from sublet to sublet I found myself in urgent need of an atelier and a house, simultaniously. Just days before I had to move, I stumbled upon a vacant, 100-square-meter social housing apartment. a perfect space to restore the anima sculpture. After a few weeks, I realized it wasn’t just me finding the space—it was my sculpture that had discovered it, as if the apartment had been waiting for her all along.
The Bedroom
The Anima sculpture stood in the doorway, In this position, she guarded both the the bedroom and the apartment’s front door, acting as a protector of the inner and outer realms. the dark room represents the depths of her subconscious. Behind her bed A painting titled Dysregulated Nervous System hung on the wall, depicting the Anima controlled by her shadow. on her dresser, a jewelry box rested, containing a tiny troll-fairy, a creature absorbed in its own reflection, symbolizing her distorted self-image. on a little table stood her machine where she created pets for herself
the Bathroom
in the bathroom her discarded elements found new life. From the remnants of her being, small living creatures emerged, inhabiting the bathtub like a surreal microcosm of regeneration.
The Nursery
In the nursery, remnants of her past were on display. A cage that once confined her now served as a cradle. Inside the cradle lay a mirror—a symbol of self-reflection and her journey toward reparenting herself
The Office
Her counterpart, the Animus, was ever-present in her office. Screens filled with his images lined the walls, serving as a constant reminder of his absence and their separation. The office was a space of longing, a haunting presence of what could not be reconciled.
The Kitchen
The kitchen, too, became her domain. Preparing food for her became so consuming that I could no longer make meals for myself. Her presence dictated the rhythms of the space, leaving little room for my own needs.
The Living Room
The living room acted as a portal, a space where she could traverse into other dimensions. This was where her imaginative journey expanded beyond her physical confines.
The Balcony
On the balcony, a shower is installed where she could wash the dirt of herself.
