This sculpture embodies the archetype of the dark feminine as a figure of autonomy, transgression, and withheld agency. Constructed in metal and composite materials, the body holds both sculptural density and symbolic fragmentation.
A conch shell is positioned at the figure’s womb, evoking generative and regenerative processes, while the ramshorn functions as both defensive extension and embodied instrument. These elements establish a tension between vulnerability and containment, interiority and projection.
A mirror is integrated in the back of the sculpture. It mounted extends the work into the surrounding space. It redirects the viewing condition, incorporating the observer into the sculpture’s field and producing a reciprocal relationship between subject and reflection. The encounter operates as both confrontation and self-recognition.
For this exhibition, Lema Ahmadi invited artist Nefo Zhang to contribute a related work. The accompanying kinetic glass-and-metal sculpture contains light and gaseous movement within a sealed, rounded vessel. Its suspended internal formation produces a shifting atmospheric condition, oscillating between material presence and immaterial perception. In dialogue with Lilith, Elysian Flux, the work extends a shared investigation into transformation, instability, and perceptual thresholds.
